World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus on global attention on blindness and vision impairment.
For Eyes believes that universal eye health is possible and every eye exam is one step towards it.
This year, For Eyes decided to do something a little different. For World Sight Day, we brought the vision van to Lotus House Women’s Shelter in Miami, Florida. With the expertise of Dr. Rosanna Richards, we were able to provide 26 free eye exams and 25 pairs of eyeglasses to the guests of Lotus House.
Lotus House Women’s Shelter provides shelter and comprehensive supportive services, including access to medical and mental health care, parenting education, therapy, job readiness training, and a host of enrichment activities, offering alternative pathways to healing. Lotus House shelters over 490 women, youth and children nightly.
